Investment Styles
Tandem offers three investment strategies for separately managed accounts (SMAS).
Inception Date: 03/31/1991
Large Cap Core
Large Cap Core (LCC) seeks to produce superior risk-adjusted returns, while minimizing volatility over a complete market cycle. Tandem’s investment philosophy requires that portfolio companies consistently grow both earnings and dividends. LCC differs from Tandem’s other strategies in that dividends must be paid to be included in LCC. Tandem believes dividend growth justified by earnings growth should allow stocks to perform well over time regardless of economic or market conditions. A proprietary semi-quantitative investment methodology is utilized to produce returns that experience less volatility than, and correlation to, the broader market.

Equity
Equity seeks to produce superior returns with less volatility over a complete market cycle. Tandem’s investment philosophy requires that portfolio companies consistently grow earnings and dividends, if dividends are paid. Unlike LCC, Equity does not require portfolio companies to pay a dividend. Tandem relies upon a proprietary semi-quantitative investment methodology to produce returns that typically have limited correlation to the broader market in the short run, while keeping pace with prolonged market advances.

Mid Cap Core
Mid Cap Core (MCC) seeks to produce superior risk-adjusted returns, while minimizing volatility over a complete market cycle. MCC is identical to the Equity strategy with one caveat – initial investments can only be made in companies under a $20 billion market cap. Similar to Tandem’s other two strategies, MCC requires portfolio companies to consistently grow earnings and dividends, if dividends are paid. Tandem relies upon a proprietary semi-quantitative investment methodology to produce returns that typically have limited correlation to the broader market in the short run, while keeping pace with prolonged market advances.
